To best use this site, make sure you have the current versions of Adobe Acrobat and Apple's Quicktime (both are free).

The focus of our course is Louisiana. You will become an expert on one subject in Louisiana studies through your projects. We will also review World History and American History for the LEAP Exam. We will follow the State of Louisiana's Comprehensive Curriculum. I have created a course outline that shows the state focus, standards, benchmarks, and grade-level expectations (GLEs) that we are required by the State of Louisiana to complete in 8th grade social studies. The use of GLEs comes from the Standards-Based Education Reform Movement (see the AFT statement on Standards-Based reforms).

See a summary of the LEAP scores for my students in the 2006-2007 school year.

Please check this page often, as this is where I post important information for class. I also post copies of this page in class. Each student is responsible for checking either the online or in-class version of this page daily. Students are also required to check the master calendar in the classroom. "I didn't know we had a test/that was due today" will not be accepted as an excuse.

Parents, monitor your child's use of the web. There is no substitute for parental involvement!!
